I am passionate about bridging the gap between the church and the mental health field and enabling the two to work together to serve those who are hurting.
While many churches partner with me as a referral source because they know they can trust me with those needing individual work, there are actually many ways that we can work together to help those in the church build healthy relationships and emotional lives.
Workshops
I offer a workshop for parents of teens on teen mental health, which helps parents understand the mental health struggles of their teens, develop good communication skills with teens, and offers tips on when to seek out a counselor and how to find one they can trust.
I also support ministry leaders who are on the front lines in care ministry and would like input on how to support those in their care. I help them identify a framework for helping others, develop boundaries in order to avoid burnout, and acquire skills for listening well.
Christian Counselors Network
Additionally, I have partnered with a colleague to start the Christian Counselors Network (CCN) for the Phoenix area.We seek to equip Christian counselors with additional tools for integrating theology in the therapy room and help churches find theologically aligned counselors with whom they can partner.
CCN often has ministry leaders come to our meetings and provide feedback to Christian counselors and develop partnerships with like-minded counselors. We’ve helped churches find Christian therapists that specialize in unique areas such as abortion recovery, sex addiction, and missionary care.
As a pastor’s wife myself, I love serving ministry leaders, and I offer counseling to individuals and couples who are navigating the particular challenges of ministry life.
